Prague, the river and old stories
Cross the river slowly, look up in the old lanes and give one museum a whole morning. Prague’s familiar skyline has quieter chapters close by.
First-time visitors who like history, architecture and manageable cultural visits. Cobbles, steps and hills are part of the city; adapt the route and use public transport when it helps.
Five full-day ideas to adapt · arrival and departure are additional. Book each service separately.

A little rhythm for your visit
Days with room to breathe.
These are researched possibilities, not an opening-day or availability-checked schedule. Keep what suits your dates and check the linked official information before booking.

Old Town, beyond one square
Begin in Old Town Square, then follow quieter streets towards Ovocný trh and the exterior of the Estates Theatre. Choose lunch away from the main square before spending the afternoon around Celetná and the House at the Black Madonna. If its Cubist collection interests you, check and purchase entry separately. Finish with a river-side walk or dinner near your stay, leaving another famous sight for tomorrow.

The castle side, with room to look
Travel uphill to the Prague Castle area rather than using all your energy before the visit. Choose the exact visitor circuit you want and check admission and any ceremonial closures. After lunch, descend through a manageable part of Hradčany and Malá Strana, allowing time for photographs and a café. Keep dinner on this side of the river or return by tram. The castle gardens are seasonal, not a guaranteed winter addition.

Kampa: a river day with an art pause
Cross Charles Bridge when it suits your morning, then leave its busiest stretch for Kampa. Explore the public park and riverside before lunch. Make Museum Kampa the afternoon’s optional cultural anchor, checking the current collection and admission rather than assuming entry is included. Afterwards, stay close to the water for a slower walk and a meal. No cruise is necessary to give this day its river character.

Josefov, approached with time and care
Give the Jewish Museum’s historical sites a dedicated morning after checking their current opening calendar and ticket choices. Allow time to read and reflect, rather than squeezing the visit between shopping stops. Take lunch afterwards, then keep the afternoon lighter with the surrounding streets and a riverside pause. Choose dinner nearby or return to your base. Religious holidays and closures may change the day’s order, so check before booking other commitments.

Vyšehrad and a longer view
Spend the morning around Vyšehrad’s public gardens and ramparts, taking in the river views and choosing only the paths that suit your mobility. Pause for lunch before a gentle afternoon along an appropriate stretch of the riverfront. Paid interiors are optional, separately checked visits. Finish with a final city dinner rather than rushing back across town for another attraction; the open-air setting is enough of a contrast to the earlier museum days.

The right base changes the day
Where to stay.
Old Town / edge of Nové Město
Useful for the first day and evening meals, but compare individual streets for noise and crowds. Confirm lift access in older buildings.
Malá Strana
Consider it for the castle-side and Kampa days. Hills and cobbles matter more than a short distance on a map.
Areas are editorial suggestions. No room rate or availability is promised; a general hotel search does not preselect your property or dates.
The little discoveries
Leave room for these.
Ovocný trh’s architecture
Look at the theatre and surrounding façades from the public square, then decide whether any paid interior is worth your time.
Kampa and Vyšehrad gardens
Public park walks offer river views without museum admission. Respect gates, closures and private garden sections.

The journey in.
Prague Airport lists trolleybus 59 to Nádraží Veleslavín for metro A, or bus 100 to Zličín for metro B. Choose the connection that actually fits your accommodation and buy a valid ticket before boarding.
Use arrival day for the transfer, check-in and a short walk. The five days described here are full sightseeing days, with departure time added separately.
Recheck the airport connection and current works before leaving. Give the final walk from an old-town hotel to transport as much thought as the flight time.
