Tenerife, sea and volcano

A bright beach morning, a harbour lunch and one day in a landscape shaped by lava. Keep a southern base and give each outing its own space.

Couples or friends wanting beach time alongside scenery. The Teide day involves altitude and is optional; check the operator’s health, age and access guidance before adding a cable-car ride.

Five full-day ideas to adapt · arrival and departure are additional. Book each service separately.

Los Cristianos, with the afternoon left open

Begin beside the harbour at Los Cristianos, watching the town settle into its morning. Choose lunch near the seafront, then spend the afternoon on the beach or walking the promenade towards Las Vistas. Follow current beach flags and your own swimming ability rather than a promise of calm water. Stay near your base for dinner: this is the easy day that makes room for the more adventurous one later.

A coastal day in Costa Adeje

Choose one stretch of Costa Adeje’s shore for the morning instead of trying to cover the entire resort coast. Pause for lunch, then alternate a manageable promenade walk with time on a suitable beach. A boat excursion is an optional separate purchase only after checking the exact vessel, operator, itinerary and conditions; no wildlife sighting is assured. Return for an unhurried evening rather than coupling the coast with a mountain drive.

Teide: make the landscape the occasion

Reserve a full day for Teide National Park, arranging a suitable road journey or excursion independently. Start with the volcanic scenery and permitted viewpoints; keep lunch, water and warmer layers in the plan. A cable-car ticket is optional and subject to operation, while summit access has separate authorisation. Return to the coast for an easy dinner. If mountain weather prevents the visit, use another coastal day rather than forcing an ascent.

El Médano’s different kind of beach day

Travel east to El Médano in the morning. Enjoy its town-front beach and the sight of wind sports from the shore, then choose lunch in the town. Leave the afternoon for the promenade and a sheltered pause. This can be a windy setting; watching the water is a valid alternative to entering it. Book instruction separately if you want to try a sport, and return to your chosen base for dinner.

The cliffs at Los Gigantes

Give the western coast a full final outing. Arrive at Los Gigantes for the harbour and cliff setting, then make lunch the midpoint of the day. Continue with public viewpoints and the town rather than adding the Masca gorge, which is a separate undertaking. Choose a boat trip only if its exact route and conditions suit you; it is not included. Return in daylight and keep the last evening simple.

The right base changes the day

Where to stay.

Los Cristianos

A practical base for harbour life and the first day’s walk. Check the exact location and noise level rather than treating the entire resort as equally quiet.

Costa Adeje

Consider it for coastal hotels and promenades, checking the distance to the beach and whether the address is uphill. Facilities and sea access depend on the specific property.

Areas are editorial suggestions. No room rate or availability is promised; a general hotel search does not preselect your property or dates.

The little discoveries

Leave room for these.

The southern promenades

A shore-side walk can be the main attraction; loungers, water sports and drinks remain separate costs.

Los Gigantes from land

Public coastal viewpoints let you appreciate the cliff setting without purchasing a cruise. Stay within permitted paths and barriers.

Start without a rush

The journey in.

Tenerife South (TFS) is the starting point to compare for this southern-base idea. Aena lists route 40 towards Los Cristianos and Costa Adeje; check the current timetable and final walk to your address.

Arrival day is for reaching your hotel and settling in. These are five full days, plus the time needed for your own flights.

Plan the departure transfer from your exact accommodation and airport. Do not put the Teide excursion on a flight day; weather and access can disrupt its timing.
